The Egg Banjo
Honouring those who have served.
The Egg Banjo is a welcoming community space for veterans to come together, enjoy good food and a hot drink and spend time with people who understand the unique experiences of military life.
So, what exactly is an Egg Banjo?
It’s a well-known military favourite: a fried egg sandwich, traditionally served between two slices of bread. The nickname is said to come from the familiar sight of someone holding the sandwich in one hand while wiping spilled egg from their clothing with the other, a movement resembling someone playing a banjo!
At the café, veterans can enjoy a free egg banjo, with sausage or bacon and a free barista-style coffee or tea. But the café is about much more than food.
Our aim is to provide a relaxed, friendly place where veterans can connect with others who have “walked the walk”. Whether someone simply wants a brew and a chat, is looking for friendship and community, or needs a little extra support, there is a warm welcome waiting.
We also offer free support and signposting, helping veterans connect with appropriate services and organisations when they need practical help.
If you are a veteran, we would love to welcome you!
If you know someone who has served and might benefit from the Egg Banjo, please tell them about us!
There’s no pressure and no expectation.
Just good food, real conversation and a community that values and honours those who have served.
